MICRO:BIT CODING CAMP

Micro:bit is a mini computer that introduces students to how software and hardware work together. It is packed with many sensors, LED lights, a speaker, compass, and microphone that enables students to make interactive projects. In this camp, students will learn to program micro:bit using a block-based or Python programming language. The fundamental coding concepts such as conditionals, logical operators, and loops will be covered. Students will work on making a remote controller, door alarm, automatic fan, and exciting games. They will be encouraged to think creatively to come up with their own project ideas as well. This camp would be a great introduction to electronics, robotics, engineering and coding. 

On the last day of the camp, students will be given coding challenges to solve. It is an opportunity for students to test their coding skills, become real problem solvers, and earn prizes. No prior coding experience is necessary. Beginner to advanced, all levels are welcome.

If students have their own laptop that has a usb port, please bring it to the camp. If not, we will provide a laptop.

3D PRINTING CAMP

In this course, you’ll be introduced to the world of 3D modeling and printing using Blender (or Tinkercad), a fun and easy-to-use software program that lets you design your own 3D models. Throughout the course, you’ll learn the basics of 3D modeling, including how to create and manipulate shapes, how to manipulate properties, and how to combine multiple shapes to create more complex objects. You’ll also learn how to plan your own designs, and you’ll get to see your own creations come to life right before your eyes! By the end of the course, you’ll have your very own 3D-printed object to take home and show off to your friends and family. So get ready to have fun, get creative, and dive into the exciting world of 3D printing!

CREATIVE CODING (Choose Python or JavaScript)

Choose between Python and JavaScript, the two popular languages.
In this camp, students will be introduced to text-based coding using either Python or p5 JavaScript language. The coding fundamentals such as  conditionals, functions, loops, and objects will be covered.  Students will apply these concepts to make games, animations, and their own algorithms. New concepts will be introduced depending upon students’ skill level. Emphasis is given to development of students’ computational thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. On the last day of camp, students will solve coding challenges and will receive prizes upon completion.
Note: Bring your own laptop or tablet. We will provide a laptop if you are unable to bring one.

VR VEX CODING Mini Camp

In this camp, students will learn computer coding fundamentals by programming virtual VEX robots. They will use block-based or python language to program robots to do tasks such as solving mazes, making an art, and cleaning the coral reef. Along with learning coding concepts, students will develop problem solving and algorithm creation skills. The programming concepts such as variables, loops, conditionals, and logical operators will be covered. On the last day, students will receive prizes upon successful completion of fun coding challenges.

Note: Bring your own laptop or tablet. We will provide a laptop if you are unable to bring one.

Let’s write the computer code and see it come alive in VR!
In this innovative camp, students will be introduced to virtual reality, 3D design, and computer coding. Students will explore 3D spaces and build their own 3D creations. They will write block-based code using programming concepts such as variables, loops, conditionals, and functions. Advanced coders can code with text-based scripting languages. The most exciting part would be to test the code in VR using VR headsets. No prior coding experience is necessary. Students can bring their own Google cardboard VR headsets ($9 on Amazon) or we will provide one.

Note: Bring your own laptop or tablet. We will provide a laptop if you are unable to bring one.

In this camp, students will be introduced to text-based coding using Python language. Python is a popular, versatile, and easy-to-read programming language. The coding fundamentals such as user input, output, data types, conditionals, functions, and loops will be covered.  Students will also work with turtle graphics and make games, digital art. New concepts will be introduced depending upon students’ skill level. Emphasis is given to development of students’ computational thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity.

Homework
Practice makes perfect! We like students to practice the concepts that they learn in the class. We give a coding assignment after each class and encourage students to complete it at home.

Tracking Progress
Student’s monthly progress report is the best way to keep updated on what is happening in the class. The report summarizes what student has learned in the class, feedback on their projects and any areas of concern or improvement.

Make-up and cancellation policy
If you are missing a class, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. We will schedule a make-up class for you.

If you have to cancel the classes for the session, please contact us with at least a week of notice. You will receive a full refund of the remaining classes.
